Who are we?
We are a family company for starters, and one that has stood the test of time. Our history goes back 38 years, when Irishman and well known builder and developer Joe McCaul branched out on his own and started the Redwaters name.
Joe’s youngest son , Sean, joined the company in 1990, and took over the helm four years later. Today he’s joined by fellow director Neil Cartwright and a small hardworking team who pride themselves on their high standards of customer care.
A lot has happened over the past 38 years so excuse us for blowing our own trumpet. We’ve grown to become one of the best know privately owned construction specialists in the North West and have been busy building residential, retail and commercial developments of character and individuality in highly desirable locations. And we’ve got the awards to prove it .
We like to think our strength and success is down to a unique blend of cutting edge design, modern professionalism and our traditional family values. We offer customers the accessibility and innovation of a private company with the expertise and resources of a national corporation.
Service with a smile
We don’t go in for flashy marketing campaigns. And while we love our website and welcome emails and phone calls, we are slightly old fashioned and like face-to-face contact. It’s called service with a smile. We want to get to know you and vice versa. That way if you do decide to buy a home from us we will already be on first name terms and we will help you in whichever way we can . We can give you information about lawyers and mortgages (more on this later) but only if you want it. The kettles always on in our office.
Why choose us?
In a nutshell because we are good at what we do. We pride ourselves on quality and creating a product you won’t find anywhere else. We aim to provide houses that people aspire to live in, but are also good value for money and a sound investment. But we don’t just build developments,, we build relationships too. We realise we are only as good as our last project and wouldn’t be around today if it wasn’t for you . So we always, always listen to what our customers have to say and then act on it. It’s called putting you first. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
What are we up to today?
Phew! 2015 turned out to a busy year for us and 2016 has certainly started on a high.
The big news last year was setting up our own construction arm, Redwater Contracts and opening our first Yorkshire office (you will find more on this in our news section).
That aside we also built more than 50 new homes (in both Yorkshire and Lancashire), and of course took on more staff, not just at our head office in Astley, but also at our Redwater Contracts office in Ripponden.
The two companies work side-by-side and complement one another and mean we can take on more projects over the next few years.
We’ve got three exciting projects on the go this year so far , Chaddock Hall in Astley, Bridge House in Thelwall, Cheshire, and Ripponden Vale in Ripponden, with more to come in both Lancashire and Yorkshire.
Future developments which are already hitting the headlines include a £9 million cutting-edge housing, restaurant and entertainment development, Astley Point near our HQ in Astley, our third Yorkshire development in Linthwaite, Huddersfield (on the site of a former dyeworks) and an upmarket development at Warton , a pretty village on The Fylde , Lancashire.
By the end of this year we will have built another 100 houses and expect to double that figure in 2017/18. We reckon our founder Joe McCaul wouldn’t just approve but also be proud of how far his company has come
